For the period 15-17 May 2009 MGERB’s representatives took part in the first youth symposium in Istanbul, Turkey organized by the youth organization of the Party of Fairness and Development (AKP) under the patronage of Turkey’s prime minister- Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The forum was attended by more than 800 representatives from all regions of Turkey, guests from Israel, Iran, Kazakhstan, Sudan, Ethiopia, Lebanon and others. European youth organizations were presented by guest from Greece, Cyprus, Kosovo, FYROM, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Bulgaria.
Main topics at the symposium were government policies regarding young people, young people in the conditions of globalization, entrepreneurship as a vision in the life of young people, etc. The problem with the low interest in politics seen in young people and its possible solutions were also discussed. Turkey’s vision of creating a modern democratic system, meeting the requirements for membership in the EU and sharing basic European democratic values was presented.
The symposium ended with a spectacular concert at Besiktas’ stadium, led by Turkey’s prime minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The event was attended by 45 000 members from the youth organization of AKP.
