Be a free citizen – initiative on the occasion of 3rd of March

Today the youth of PP GERB from all over the country appeal their coevals to observe tha national holiday of Bulgaria, 3rd of March:

“Come to lay a wreath or a flower to the monument of the perished for Bulgaria’s liberation in your town!
We will be there, join us!”

Parallel with this, the youth began on-line campaign “Be a free citizen”, that is being led in the faster and faster growing social net of Facebook in Bulgaria. They prepared a clip on the occasion of the holiday which is getting more and more popular in internet room - Vbox, YouTube, www.mgerb.blogspot.com, skype and so on.
In this campaign they point that on the date of 3rd of March we fete our nation’s resurrection, the nation that has survived near 500 years without any political, spiritual and personal freedom.

What is freedom?
The freedom is to choose by yourself:
Who to govern you
What to be believe in
What to achieve
What to create
How and where to live
What to study

These are our civil freedoms that thousands of Bulgarians have paid with their lives for.
It depends on us to save them and that made us REAL CITIZENS!

The participants in MGERB’s Second Political Academy completed training in political culture and rhetoric

Between 26th February and 1st March in Plovdiv the second module of the Second Political Academy, organized by foundation “Konrad Adenauer” and political party GERB was organized. The training started on 27.02.2009, Friday at 9:00 AM in park-hotel “Imperial”. Greetings to the participants were made by MGERB’s chairwoman Monika Panayotova, the manager of foundation “Konrad Adenauer” ‘s office in Sofia Andrea von Below and Dr. Gotfrid Linn from Germany, who was one of the lecturers of the Academy. In the prestigious event, whose host is the chairman of PP GERB in Plovdiv - Ivan Totev more than 50 youths from the whole country participate. They have passed several selection stages: CVs, motivational letters and personality tests, as well as personal communication with experts- psychologists. The training consists of 5 modules and will last two months. During this period, the young people will go through training in political rhetoric, political behavior, public speech, political specters, communication and others. In the current module the participants were trained in political culture, where lecturer was Radoslav Tochev, international secretary of PP GERB and in rhetoric, where lecturers were Dr. Gotfrid Linn, who specially arrived from Germany and Trendafil Meretev of association “Debates”.

Greetings for 1st March and wished of health and welfare addressed to the citizens of Plovdiv by MGERB Plovdiv and the perticipants in the Academy. In the sunny day they gave away martenitsi to passersby – the symbol of the forthcoming spring and new beginning. The citizens and guests of Plovdiv were impressed by the serial MGERB’s initiative. The youths of MGERB explained to foreigners that the tradition to put on a martenitsa on 1st March is an old and typical Bulgarian tradition. Since long ago people have been wearing white and red threads for health, futility and longevity. According to Bulgarian sayings martenitsi have magical forces and prevent illness. They are worn until one sees a stork- they are tied on a blossomed twig or under a rock. The lector from Germany, DR. Gotfrid Linn was also impressed by this Bulgarian Tradition. “This year 20 years since the fall of the Berlin wall are celebrated- symbol of freedom and new beginning. So, on today’s holiday-also a sign of new beginning, let us make a wish- each Bulgarian to make his/her choice and vote” said MGERB’s chairwoman Monika Panayotova.

MGERB’s chairwoman participated in SGERB’s Winter University in Veliko Tarnovo

The first political winter university of SGERB took place on 19th and 20th February in Interhotel Veliko Tarnovo.

There, together with the rest of the lecturers, MGERB’s chairwoman - Monika Panayotova talked about successful policy- dialogue between generations, effective communication and values. She also emphasized the role of the GERB’s youth organization, of which capable and active young people are members and introduced the participants to their activities.

Apart from the panel devoted to the youth organization, during the forum the political situation in the country was discussed, as well as election systems, basic right principles, GERB’s health program, measures for counteractions against the crisis and the social and educational policies of the party. Mr. Tsvetan Tsvetanov, chairman of PP GERB was an official guest to the forum.

MGERB has Participated in the Winter University of EDS in Bucharest, Romania

From 17th to 22nd of February 2009 in Bucharest representatives of MGERB were part of the winter university of the European Democrat Students (EDS) – the largest student political organization in Europe. The delegates of MGERB Kalin Zahariev, member of NIS MGERB, Antonia Velichkova, member of MGERB Stara Zagora and Toma Tomov, member of MGERB Pleven, participated as observers.

During their five day visit they have met ministers from the Romanian government, the Austrian ambassador in Romania, the representative of Konrad Adenauer foundation Romania and Romanian Eurodeputies.


In the work sessions of European Democrat Students proposals for positions on important European issues were made – Croatian EU Accession, the Energy Crisis, the EU's relations with Russia and others. Those proposals were accepted in the last day of the winter university during the EDS Council conference.

Dear friends,

Happy Birthday to MGERB. We are happy that together our team has grown stronger, more flexible and younger. You are the new face of the party. With you GERB has enriched its cadres’ potential. That is why we rely for you to enter the next government getting new faces and spirit into the politics.

Over the last year we continued to believe in you and you have justified our faith. Your initiatives, campaigns and ideas have inspired energy and elan into the party activities.

MGERB is the way together to try to overcome the political apathy amongst the young people in Bulgaria. Be bold and active, believe in yourself and work with pleasure. Be constant and believe in your principles, continue to dream because that is the only way we will succeed! One day we and our colleagues will retire and you will be the ones to carry on the way of GERB. You will be those who will be writing the history of the state and the party. That is why I advise you – Write it “literate” and “responsible”. Work to make PP GERB live decades ahead.
