MGERB took part in the annual congress of the Youth Organisation of the Justice and Development Party

Hristo Gadzhev (International Secretary of MGERB) and Pavel Anastasov (MGERB – Sofia) took part in the ninth annual festival of the Youth Organisation of the Justice and Development Party in Turkey. It was held between the 13th and the 16th of May in İzmir and Istanbul, and it was attended by international representatives from 25 countries from Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

During the first two days the participants had the opportunity to visit Istanbul – The European Capital of Culture for 2010. There they familiarised themselves with the traditions of the country and managed to discuss questions connected with the development of the region and the relations with the Muslim world. In Istanbul the delegation was welcomed by local members of parliament and representatives of the local organisation of the Justice and Development Party. Special greetings were made by the Mayer of Istanbul - Kadir Topbaş.

After that the participants headed in the direction of İzmir, where on the 16th of May the annual youth festival of the Justice and Development Party took place, under the patronage of the Leader of the Justice and Development Party and Prime Minister of Turkey – Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. There in the sport hall of the town approximately 10 000 youths from all over the country gathered to spend the day together, in anticipation for the speech of the prime minister, famous Turkish singers took care for their good spirit.

In his speech Mr. Erdoğan highlighted the importance of youth in the future development of the country and the measures, which need to be taken in order to prevent immigration among the young. Giving the real chance for young people to participate in the governance of the countries policies is the main engine in youth activity, stated Mr. Erdoğan, basing on his own experience, entering politics in a young age. Investing in infrastructure, as well as the creation of specific conditions for investment, is the main tool, according to him for keeping the young Turkish in their country. In this way for 8 years Turkey has climbed to the 16th biggest economy in the world and the 6th in Europe.
